Fitbud ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Fitbud mobile application. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly and information generated through your use of the app:
- Account data: name, email address, profile photo, date of birth, and bio.
- Fitness data: workouts, sets, reps, weight, duration, calories, distance, heart rate, and training history.
- Health data: data imported from Apple Health (with your permission), including active energy, steps, sleep, and heart rate.
- Location data: approximate location attached to posts and used to surface nearby activities (only when you choose to share a post with location).
- Content: posts, photos, videos, messages, and comments you create or share.
- Usage data: feature interactions, screen views, crash reports, and device identifiers.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and personalise the app experience (feed, AI coaching, leaderboards).
- Generate AI workout and nutrition recommendations through our in-app AI coach.
- Enable social features — following, messaging, events, and group chats.
- Show your activity on the nearby feed and leaderboards (based on your privacy settings).
- Send push notifications about activity, events, and messages (only when you have notifications enabled).
- Improve the app through aggregated analytics and crash diagnostics.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with:
- Supabase — database and file storage provider. Data is stored in the EU region.
- Anthropic / OpenAI — AI providers used to generate coaching responses. Only anonymised query context is sent.
- Apple — HealthKit integration is governed by Apple's HealthKit terms; data is read locally on device.
- Law enforcement or regulators — only when required by law.
4. Health Data
Health and fitness data imported from Apple Health is used solely to personalise your in-app experience (e.g., training load, calorie summaries). We never share HealthKit data with advertisers or use it for advertising purposes, consistent with Apple's HealthKit guidelines.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. On deletion, your posts, messages, and profile are permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format).

7. Children's Privacy
Fitbud is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (TLS), Supabase row-level security, and access-controlled storage buckets to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take your privacy seriously and continually review our practices.
9. Third-Party Links
The app may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and encourage you to review their policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of Fitbud after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
